Day 141 -May 22, 2008

Hello Everyone...

Well for those of you who have not heard.... I fell on Tuesday morning and broke my left foot... 3 broken bones.. The crack was so loud there was nothing like it... I knew right away... Ouch !!!
So with that said, it looks like I won't be walking my 10,000 steps for at least 6 - 8 weeks. I now need to be more careful than ever as exercise which was difficult in the past will be more challenging... I know calorie intake wise will also need to be monitored very carefully as I do not want to take a step back... so with that said.. I can't weight myself for a few weeks, but I am working towards the day I take this cast off, that I will be lighter... That is my goal...

I will keep writing, I just won't be writing about how many pounds I lost, but more about what I have eaten in order to continue my weight loss...

Day 135 - May 16, 2008

WOW - How many days has it been... tooo long... so sorry.. so much going on...

Since I got back from California, it has been a rough go at getting back into the swing of things.. work that is, and it seems the days have just gone by so quick.. I can't believe it.. I also have found it so hard to get back into the swing of things.. I guess it was all the relaxation I took when I was in California.. It was hard to get back on line, to do email, and so on.....

I just signed up for the challenge that Family circle started this month towards a New Healthy YOU !! no surprise that the challenge is to start walking and increase our steps by 2000 per week.. Well Hello how many times do I need to read that.. But I signed up.. you can too and join me in helping us reach our weigh loss goal.

I did weigh myself on Tuesday and I lost 1 pound.. After last weeks 5 / 1 was so disappointing, but I did do more exercise and funny thing I was reading and article today that stated that the worse thing you can do is exercise one week and then stop the next. Your body has to adjust itself, and before it can start to burn calories again you will have to get back up to the point of steps or whatever it was that you were doing prior to the break. So in my case there I was walking 30 minutes a day, 10000 - 13000 steps a day, and then I stop, my body needs to get back to that in order to do something like burn calories.. So the bad thing I am doing is I am all gun ho one week and then rest the next.... OH boy a big lesson learned..

On the Family Circle challenge they ask you to put a start date on the calender - circle it and start getting excited about the day you are going to start your challenge... self talk... key!!!

So my start day is Monday May 19, 2008...I will be very active for the next 21 days so that it will become a habit.. You have heard of that right that if you do something for 21 days straight it becomes a habit...

Day 127 - May 8th 2008

Hello everyone... sorry I haven't blogged in the last few days, but as you know I was in California on Friday - Tuesday, and then you get home and it's back to reality and 200 emails... So I finally got a minute...

Well California was great... Like I said before I left I was watched by the hawks... but it was fun... Mom and Dad did everything they could to make sure I stuck within my calorie count on a daily basis... Even dinner was at Soup Plantation which was a large salad and soup bar.. Good food we need one of those out here in the east, too bad they only have them out west... Then on Sunday

Robert and Mary my aunt and uncle had a Cinco de Mayo/Mother's Day celebration and yes I could have gone overboard with the enchiladas.. but no we had grilled fish tacos, salad, tamales and fajitas, and I stayed cleared of the enchiladas... (Oh how that hurt... cheesy greasy, delicious enchiladas..)

The great news is that I weighed myself on Wed. and I lost 5 pounds... WOW that felt great !!!

Unto this week and again determined to lose another 3 - 5 pounds to keep on track..

Day 121 - May 2, 2008

WOW !!! May 2nd already.. Where has the time gone...
As you all know today if Friday, and in just a few hours I will be leaving for Calif. to see mom and dad... Hope they are as excited to seem almost 30 pounds lighter or will they be disappointed...

Went for a walk yesterday, it was an absolutely beautiful day in which the wind was just perfect, the sun was shining, and I did my mile.. could have gone for more, but my ankle was giving up on me.. But had a new revelation... purchased a book called "A morning cup of YOGA !!" by Jane Goad Trechset.. all it take is 15 minutes while you wait for you coffee to brew and your toast to toast !! I started it today, and let me tell you I feel energized so much that I came to write to all of you about it... I think I also stretched muscles I didn't even know where there... OUCH @!!
No seriously it really felt revitalizing and energizing and I can't explain the peace and tranquility that I felt while doing it... As you listen to your breathing and become aware of your inner self, wow it really is exciting..

I highly recommend it.. I know some people who take yoga classes and they always tell me how great it is overall for you.. Just maybe that will be fun exercise... maybe I will start taking classes. Anyone interested... ?? Let me know and we can join together !!

I bid farewell as I am about to get ready for my trip.. be good this weekend.. I know I don't have a choice.. as the HAWKS will all be watching.. Boy I bet this will be the best weekend ever in my weight loss efforts...
Oh and by the way I wanted to weigh myself before going as I was curious to see how much I will lose over the next few days, and low and behold I lost a pound in the last 3 days, you see I knew it was that Pastichio !!
