Day 177 - June 28th 2008

Hello everyone... Happy Weekend....

Well I bet you are wondering why I have not written as to how much weight I loss while in my cast... well the truth is I did not weight myself, cause the day I stepped on the scale, the batteries went dead... can you imagine...?

I need to run to CVS to pick some up, but just been busy this week, work, meetings, getting use to walk again, has really been a burden.. this is not an excuse, but I am still struggling in walking correctly..

Well what I have been doing is some reading.. I purchased a book call Secrets of a Former Fat Girl.. Her secret..easy didn't have to spend the $15 on the book.... Her secret was to incorporate an EXERCISE ROUTINE in everyday...

She started with Jazzercise..then started to run... She gives many recommendations, but her favorite was running.. She set goals everyday, gives some great tips as to whatever you are doing to do it should be on your way to or from work, as once you get home you will never go again. I agree.. She also suggest that the best time is in the morning.. My problem I love to sleep... and in the afternoon I am too tired.. so I need to figure out how to incorporate this into my schedule.. which is her other tip.. Jot it down in your organizer.. Make a date with yourself..

But the answer is EXERCISE.. move, move, move... of course she ate less, but really did not do anything to cut back on her favorite foods, just ate less of them and looked for alternate ways of making her favorites to less fattening..

So I guess what I am telling you all is that no matter what I read or what I research the answers are clear... Eat less and Exercise more.. That will help me attain my goal.. Now if I can only get back to walking normal so I can continue to walk like I use too.. I was starting to enjoy it.. And I have walking buddies in Rosie and Lauren.. so Ladies let's start making some dates...

Day 170 - June 21, 2008

Wow 170 days... Can you believe this... more than 6 months have gone by since I started this new journey into becoming healthy and reaching my goal of losing 100lbs. by Dec 31, 2008...

To start, the doctor finally took of my cast... I am a little soar, but it will get better in a few days.. So I will need to wait a few days before I go back to my normal routine of walking every day...

Recently on the Today Show ( my goal is to be on this show) this lady lost over 242 pounds by just cutting back on calories and walking... walking... walking.... read her inspiring story here...

My goal is to one day have my story there.. and jumping for joy that I reached my goal...
On Friday I got reminders from Dad and Rosie that I have not kept up with my Blog... then I get a call on Saturday from Bill and Ana with the same comments.. OK... OK... I got out of my routine with this foot thing, and I just gave excuses for everything, but as Rosie stated... "You are the one who wrote this blog in order to be held accountable.. " Well that put me right back in my place...

So as I start on a new week, I will weigh myself in on Tuesday morning, prior to my power breakfast with Rosie and Kim.. I will be back on Tuesday to share my success these last 5 weeks, and hey I am positive.. I know I lost weight, so I can't wait to share on Tuesday with all of you...

I just purchased the book which has become my greatest new companion as it yells at me when I go over my caloric intake... The website is full of great resources and tools that you can use.. The tool that calculates the number of steps you need to match any form of exercise is a great tool. Just log on and go to resources and tools. Check it out... Day 161 - June 12, 2008

Hello, I know I promised to write every 2 days... But.. OK no BUTS !!! that's the reason I usually am not success in my weight loss, since I always have a but... But you don't understand...But there was a reason...But, But, But... I was reading the other day that procrastinators are lazy people.. Well HELLO out there, I am the biggest procrastinator, and well I guess that means I am lazy.. so how do I change that... Well for one thing I need to change my way of thinking about my goals and where I want to be in 6 months... Yeah the last 4 weeks have been a setback, but the only thing that should be on hold is my weighs ins.. Actually I have to share that I have been pretty good in keeping with the plan. To say the least, clothes are fitting loose as well, I guess my biggest regret is that I cannot walk nor weigh in.. to really show myself that I have been good.

Lately is seems that all the headlines are about diets and weight loss.. Magazine covers - eat this and lose 15 lbs. Do this and lose 100 pounds by Labor Day !! There is so much information out there that you can have over kill. What's right , which plan do I follow... It's like grasping for straws.

Today I had the pleasure of doing lunch with all my peers from work. 2 of them ( Cindy and Valerie) have done a tremendous job in accomplishing their goals of getting healthy.. WOW. They both look awesome !! I have to hand it to both, they really set their minds to do it, and it really shows...

I realized something today (after flipping through a few magazines at the checkout stand in the supermarket) and that was that one thing you need to find is what works for you. You need to find what you can incorporate into your busy lifestyle and feel good about yourself.



Cindy loves to work out, she is at the gym at 5am.. I on the other hand am in la la land...
She enjoys yogurt, and eats mini meals to kick up her metabolism... Me I love frozen yogurt and at times forget that I didn't eat, which slows down the metabolism.

So I need to continue to educate myself and continue to work towards my goal, as I did lose 30 pounds and that was no small task... I need to continue and stay the course as Koukla would say !!!



With that said I was just wanted to share with something I read today which about the new Extreme South Beach Diet. research was done and they incorporated 2 things they added some turbo fat loss food and turbo fat loss walking and did you know you can increase fat burning by 300% with this simple exercise, and adding this food group. Purdue University found that if you incorporate into your diet 3-4 dairy servings ( low fat of course) into your daily intake it can increase fat metabolism enough to lose 10 pounds a year without dieting. ( Drink Milk)

Second the turbo exercise with increase fat burning by 300% was as easy as this:
1 - Walk at an easy pace - 5 minutes
2 - Go for a fast pace for 15 seconds
3 - Slow down for 30 seconds
4 - Alternate for 20 -30 minutes
if you do this every other day and push harder some days than others this will help kick start your fat burning.. Wow that is easy I can do that.. (once the cast comes off) but if that is all it takes I can do it...
They compared it to racing a car between stop lights. You accelerate and then slam on the brakes. You end up using a lot of extra fuel and at $4.00 a gallon well imagine what it will do to your weigh loss... So yep that is the trick.. I will be out there after the next few weeks doing it, so I can accelerate my weight loss.. I need to make up for past few weeks...

Day 154 - June 5th 2006

Hello Everyone... Sorry I haven't been on for over 14 days, but in all honesty after hoping around all day my arms are exhausted and I do not want to sit here and type...

I have been watching what I eat, as I know that is what everyone is curious about... and I think I am getting a nice workout on my upper body as my arms are getting an incredible workout.. Imagine those crutches how they must feel with all this weight on them... My poor right foot is looking for some rest soon, as it has been holding all the weight... But I will tell you, this past week I have been putting weight on my left foot by doctors orders and I am starting to walk a little better...

I am sorry I didn't keep up with the BLOG, but I did get my little kick in the .....by not only my dad, but my friend and co worker Cindy.. she really yelled at me, as she thought I gave up... NO!!! I just needed some time to regroup, and hoping this will be off in the next two weeks, so I can go back to doing what I was doing in order to keep on track to be 100 less by end of year..

Hey by any chance did you get to catch the Oprah show the other day, she some incredible success stories, and it was all done with diet and exercise... WOW the transformations were incredible and it gave me a new found outlook as these people lost anywhere from 150 - 400 pounds.. Incredible...
