Day 87 - March 29, 2008

Hello everyone... Happy Saturday.. I hope every one's weekend is going as planned. Mine sure is... Been having a good week... still within my game plan... Funny I was hoping that this would go by quicker.. Utilizing the steps in "The Secret" I can see myself already 100 pounds less... I am suppose to feel it, live as if I already reached my goal... I do, I do, I do... then I look in the mirror and I say.. nope not yet... Need to get a different type of mirror that will project the thoughts that are in my mind at all times...
Enjoyed reading an article today on metabolism... With age it slows down.... (now I know that for sure..) According to the article, if you never had a problem losing or maintaining your weight in your 20's or even in your early 30's....you may not be ready for what happens....(yeah tell me about it). Did you know that your metabolism slows down 5% every decade. So by the time you hit 45 you are burning 200 fewer calories than when you were 25...ugh!!!
With age muscle diminishes and so does your metabolic rate. ugh!!!!
So does that make me want to give up... NO WAY !!!! i am going to do this and I am going to show you that the 40's are the new 20's and the 50's are the new 30's...etc.etc.etc....

Day 84 - March 26, 2008

Hello everyone... I lost 1 3/4 lbs. this week... That felt great since I was kind of on a stand still and that really de-motivates you... But this week I am on the road to success again... I am looking for this week to be the best week yet !!
I continue to read everything I can get my hands on to learn as much as I can about nutrition. I was just reading this article about this woman who lost 63 pounds without dieting. What she did is realize that deep down inside we all know how to eat right! Boy I am an expert, I think I would make millions teaching everyone how to lose weight, too bad I can't take my own advise !!
Well her story was that she decided to do what she called the "no-label diet". In other words only eat foods from nature. Nothing packaged, or processed, no cookies, white breads, no frozen dinners. Her guide was if you turn the food around and there is no label then she could eat it. She had fruit, veggies, grill fish and chicken. Carried nuts and veggies for snacks. Before she knew it she was 63 pounds lighter!
Some more of her suggestions: use smaller plates, add more seasonings, use your toothbrush( want a snack -brush your teeth) and last was wear a pedometer!!
Sounds easy and d0-able, as I always say - I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING WRONG, I AM NOT DUMB!! JUST HUNGRY !!(HA-HA)
Well another week, another road to success, another tip under my belt...

Day 81 - March 23, 2008




Happy Easter !!
I realize that I have not been writing since Monday... A few reasons...
1) Technical Difficulties
2) Way too busy.....
3) NO Excuses !!!

So sorry... I guess I was disappointed that I did not lose any weight last week, and I felt that it was a week in which I had put all my efforts in exercising, and eating right, and the result was Zilch, Nada...

I am stuck on these 20 lbs, and can't seem to break that cycle..

This week I have place emphasis on analyzing what it is that I am eating to see if I can find that road block to help me get over this....

I am hoping that on Tuesday (weigh in day) I can write about a loss... and get myself motivated again.

Day 75 - March 17th 2008

Happy Saint Patrick's Day !!!
So did we all enjoy our Corn beef and Cabbage today ? I hope so, I did I made sure that I watched my calorie count all day just to be able to enjoy it... ( Thanks Lauren it was really really good...)
So I wanted to share some great accomplishments with all of you this week.. First as I mentioned on Friday, I was close to the 10,000 steps in one day.. well I came very close I hit 9500, and I was walking in place right before going to sleep hoping that I could hit the 10,000 but I was just too tired... Saturday was another great day, and the real exciting part is that I have walked these last 3 days.. I kept the momentum, I hit 2 plus miles daily... coming very close to my 10,000 steps a day...
I became a member of the Biggest Loser Club just as seen on TV, and let me tell you there is so much valuable info on this website that you don't know where to begin... But part of my goal is not to only lose weight but to also increase my knowledge in the nutrition field....
Well tomorrow is D-Day..I am looking forward to it... Hoping the way I feel will incorporate into a loss of lbs....

Day 72 - March 14th, 2008

Here we are on Day 72... wow I can't believe it has been this long already. Time flies when you are having fun !!

Well let me tell you about Tuesday. Met Rosie at the park as we committed to. Got our sneakers on and started walking. We did 2 miles, and it really went well.. That night I couldn't move. My feet and legs were killing me.

Thursday I decided that I needed to do this everyday if I wanted to get to my goal. So I threw my sneakers in my trunk, and stopped at the park to do another mile.. just couldn't make the two. First of all it was freezing out there.. Second I was so afraid of having my legs fail on me, and I wouldn't know how to get back to the car.

Today Friday was a great day... Did my mile again, but with all the walking I did today, as I just sat down to blog, I looked over at my pedometer and I hit 8421. Now that is a record for me !!

Now I am ready.... Thanks Rosie for starting me off... I have place in my calender to walk at least a mile at the park every day. Rosie has me scheduled for a walk next Tuesday !! your on!!

Can't wait till weigh in on Tuesday as I know the exercise is helping me and it will show on the scale on Tuesday !!

Day 69 - March 11th 2008

Tuesday morning which means weigh in time....1 pound this week ( 21)

This is killing me... but slow and steady.. I did lose 1 more inch from my waist and neck ( remember I do not want a turkey's neck ) so I am thrilled about that..

I am meeting my friend Rosie for a walk today... We even scheduled it so we could get away for a 1/2 hour to concentrate on us.. She's been doing great on her weight loss too, and is an inspiration.. I meet her at a site, and there she is with her bag of cut up carrots and celery, and me... forget about it.... But she keeps me on track..

Otherwise as the old wise tale, keep focus, take it one day at a time, and you have to move, move, move, which I am finally realizing that it will be the only way for me to get to my goal..

I joined a message board this morning who's goal is to walk 100 miles a week by the end of the year... Which when I break it down = 100 miles a week / 7 days = 14.3 miles a day = 7 times around the park... Now that is not that hard right? It's another goal and in order for me to be successful I need to take my Big goal and break it down into mini goals.. so I will start today with my 1/2 hour and take it from there...

Day 64 - March 6th 2008

Well the weekend is here again.. I lose an hour of sleep this week... Don't forget to spring forward on Sunday...
Looking back at last week, I realized that 1 thing that I was not consistent with is writing in my food journal.. Sometimes it is just time, at others is just plain lazy, kind of like doing the exercise.. But i know that in order to make the changes that I am working towards, somethings need to become habits:
1) Writing in my Food Journal daily...
2) Exercise, Exercise, Exercise.. ( I figured if I write it enough it will get thru my think skull)
3) Positive attitude in order to reach my goal...

So with further adieu... I am making that commitment this week, so that I can change the habits and feel the difference....
Before I forget, I do feel the difference, my pants are getting big, and went shopping the other day for a pair of pants, ended up by a pair of sweats thinking I would be doing exercise, and the exciting thing was that it was 2 sizes smaller... Now that was a great feeling...

Day 62 - March 4th 2008

Hello everyone.. First let me start out by apologizing, as I thought I had written in my blog over the weekend, but when I signed on today I realized that I didn't .. I know I was busy, but now it seems I am getting forgetful as well..
Well my weigh-in didn't go as planned today... another stumbling block.. the needle on the scaled did not move..
you know it's very disappointing to know that you focused on ensuring that you are doing everything right and then boom nothing..... I know my biggest hurdle is exercising.. I am no spring chicken and just the other day watching Oprah she was saying how after you hit 40 exercise is the most important thing in order to lose and maintain your weight.. your metabolism changes so you need to jump start it... Guess I better start moving.. since it seems that every thing else I do moving as quickly as I was hoping for...
Here is my promise... Starting today 3/4/08 - I will start 1/2 of cardio exercise and log into my blog daily in order to keep you all abreast of what I have been doing... Again to hold me accountable....
Thanks for you support... I won't let this set back keep me down.. I need to keep my vision focus on my long term goal 100lbs by 12/31/08.... See ya !
